Most photo restoration projects that I've worked on are wedding portraits or other vintage photos.
Restoration #1.
For the below image, the client wanted restoration of this family heirloom wedding photo that had been mounted on chipboard and was missing large chunks
I captured the before image with a Canon EOS Rebel XS. I then imported that image into Photoshop to restore and enhanced for the final, high resolution image. The client was thrilled and it hangs on the wall in her family home.
Restoration #2
The below image was not as damaged as the previous, yet,  there were many numerous small blemishes and stains to clean up.
For this before image, I captured it with an iPhone 15 Pro Max using the Adobe Project Indigo camera app. I brought the RAW file into Adobe Photoshop to create the after image, where I enhanced the color and removed blemishes and stains in Adobe Photoshop.

For this senior portrait photo (captured with a tripod-mounted Canon EOS 60D @ 40mm, f/5.6) I used Anthropics Portrait Pro software to create a skin and eyes preset to create a clean complexion/airbrushed look for the client. I applied the preset to all images from the session for a consistent look. Additional edits were completed using Photoshop.
